Privacy Policy

Proscenia is a mobile application for iOS and Android owned and operated by Daniel Tsivkovski, an individual developer. In this Privacy Policy, “Proscenia,” “we,” “our,” and “us” refer to Daniel Tsivkovski operating Proscenia.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you use Proscenia. If you have questions, contact us at prosceniatheatrereviews@gmail.com.

This policy applies to the Proscenia mobile application and the informational website at proscenia.app. Proscenia is currently intended for users in the United States and Canada. The website does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies of any kind.

When you create an account and use Proscenia, we collect the following categories of personal information:

• Identifiers: Email address, display name, and username you choose within the app. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL from your Google account.
• Profile information: Optional profile photo URL — either uploaded by you or imported from your Google account.
• User-generated content: Reviews and ratings you write (including Writing, Acting, and Stagecraft scores), and any text content you submit.
• Activity information: Productions you bookmark or add to your watchlist, and friend activity events displayed in your feed.
• Location information (optional): If you choose to grant location permission, we may process your device’s location to show nearby productions and theatres on maps and provide location-based recommendations. Location access is opt-in and can be disabled at any time through your device settings.
• Social connections: Friend requests you send or receive, and the user IDs of friends you connect with within the app.
• Commercial information: Records of in-app purchases made through Apple or Google, including your entitlement status (e.g., “early supporter” badge). We do not store payment card details or billing information.

Information we do not collect: We do not collect advertising IDs, biometric data, or browsing history. We do not engage in targeted advertising, profiling, or the sale or sharing of your personal information for advertising purposes.

Our service providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, device or app information, authentication tokens, logs, purchase identifiers, and similar data as necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and support Proscenia.

We use the information we collect solely for the following purposes:

• Create and manage your account
• Authenticate your identity when you sign in
• Display your reviews and profile to other authenticated users
• Show you the activity of friends you connect with
• Allow you to track productions you’ve seen or bookmarked
• Show nearby productions and theatres on maps when you enable location access
• Provide recommendations informed by your location when you enable location access
• Process and fulfill in-app purchases
• Improve the app and user experience
• Respond to support and privacy requests
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

Location services are optional. Proscenia will request your permission before accessing your device’s location. If you grant permission, we use location information only to support map features, identify nearby productions and theatres, and improve location-based recommendations.

You may decline or withdraw location permission at any time through your device settings. Maps and recommendations will remain available without location access, but they may be less relevant or require you to search for or select an area manually. Declining location access does not prevent you from using the app’s other core features.

We do not use location information for targeted advertising, sell it, or share it for advertising purposes.

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud Platform), which includes:

• Firebase Authentication: Manages email/password and Google Sign-In credentials
• Cloud Firestore: Stores user profiles, reviews, production data, friendships, and feed events
• Firebase Cloud Functions: Processes server-side logic such as generating friend activity feeds
• Firebase Storage: Stores profile images and production poster images

Firebase applies industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We follow Firebase’s security rules to restrict data access to authorized users only. Productions are publicly readable; reviews and user profiles are readable by authenticated users only; friendships are accessible only to the two users involved.

Your data is stored and processed primarily in the United States. If you use Prosceniafrom Canada, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your province or territory.

We do not sell your personal data or share it with third parties for targeted advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes. We may disclose data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With Google/Firebase: As our infrastructure and authentication provider (see Firebase Privacy)
• With RevenueCat: If you make an in-app purchase, transaction data is processed by Apple or Google and managed via RevenueCat for entitlement tracking. We do not store payment information. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
• With Google (for Google Sign-In): If you choose to sign in with Google, authentication data is exchanged via Google’s OAuth service. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
• As required by law: If we are legally required to disclose information to comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process.

Proscenia offers an optional one-time “Support the Project” in-app purchase. All payment transactions are processed through Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) via RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your payment card details, billing address, or other financial information. Please refer to Apple’s or Google’s privacy policies for details on payment data handling.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and needed to provide you with the Proscenia service.

Location information is processed only as needed to provide map and recommendation features when location access is enabled. We do not retain a history of your precise location.

If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal data within approximately 14 days of confirming your request. Some data may be retained beyond this period only where required by applicable law or to resolve disputes.

Anonymized or aggregated data that can no longer identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

Proscenia is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at prosceniatheatrereviews@gmail.com. We will investigate and delete the account and associated data promptly.

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use Proscenia with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to be bound by these Terms on the minor’s behalf.

Depending on where you reside, you may have certain rights over your personal information under applicable U.S. state, U.S. federal, Canadian federal, or Canadian provincial privacy laws. Because Proscenia is currently a small app operated by a solo developer, some privacy laws may not apply to us in every circumstance. Even so, you may contact us to make a reasonable privacy request.

• Right to know / access: Request confirmation of whether we are processing your personal data, and obtain a copy of the specific personal information we hold about you.
• Right to correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
• Right to delete: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Right to data portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
• Right to withdraw consent: Where applicable, withdraw consent to certain uses of your personal information, including location access through your device settings, subject to legal, contractual, and technical limitations.
• Right to opt out: Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, and profiling. Note: we do not engage in these activities.
• Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights that apply to you.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at prosceniatheatrereviews@gmail.com. We will verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. For Canadian users, we generally aim to respond within 30 days. For U.S. users, some state laws may allow up to 45 days. If we need more time, we will notify you where required.

You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require verification that the agent is authorized to act for you.

Residents of U.S. states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws may have additional rights, such as the right to access, delete, correct, or obtain a portable copy of personal information. Canadian users may have rights to access their personal information, request corrections, and ask questions about our privacy practices.

We collect the categories of personal information described in the “Information We Collect” section above for the purposes described in the “How We Use Your Information” section. We do not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond what is necessary to provide and protect Proscenia.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users without unreasonable delay and as required by applicable law. Notification may be sent to the email address associated with your account and may include a description of the breach, the types of information involved, and the steps we are taking in response.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and make reasonable efforts to notify users through the App or via email. Continued use of Proscenia after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
